PART-TIME PR MANAGER

MSO is seeking part-time public relations professional to assist it in its public and media relations efforts.

  • Must have a proven ability to write and edit media materials.  
  • Must develop and manage appropriate media relations plans for institutional and concert specific activity.
  • Secure story placement in print, TV, radio and internet/web media both local and national.
  •  Arrange interviews of guest artists with regional media. 
  • Develop opportunities for orchestra members/staff to speak in the community,etc.
  •  Work with reviewers/critics to give appropriate backgrounder material.
  •  Have established and be able to cultivate media relationships.
  •  Develop media kit for executive staff, music director and concert specific guest artist.
  •  Provide concert & media duty and monitor still and video photographers, reporters and  crews at events.  
  • Monitor and archive media coverage. Reporting PR story placement value each month.

Must demonstrate good story placement abilities and strong writing skills. Knowledge of classical music and/or arts/performance media experience a plus. Must be able to handle multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment. Position reports to Director of Marketing and works with staff on various projects.

MARKETING ASSISTANT

JOB TITLE:   Marketing Assistant (full time, exempt staff; benefits included)

REPORTS TO:  Director of Marketing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsibilities include but not limited to:  

Administrative duties:

·        Answer administrative phone line, direct calls, and greet walk-in visitors

·        Maintain a working knowledge of MSO events and activities

Marketing:

·        Assist Director of Marketing in database maintenance and vendor relations & billing

  • Assist Director of Marketing with administrative duties

·        Perform other marketing tasks as assigned

 Box Office duties:

·        Assist Box Office with answering Box Office phone calls and walk-in patrons

·        Assist Box Office in processing subscription orders

·        Work in Box Office at concerts as assigned

 Other duties:

·        Update phone system with current information

·        Assisting other departments with clerical tasks as time permits

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and works closely with all staff.  This job will require hours during nights and weekends.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in customer service and/or sales required
  • Outstanding customer service skills is a MUST
  • Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work as a team in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment; must have ability to multi-task successfully
  • General computer proficiency: able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge in classical music and/or performing arts is helpful
  • College degree helpful; college coursework and relevant work experience preferred
