    The Beatles wrote music that transcended all genres, so that in every sense they gave the world “classic rock.” Now it’s possible to hear the Beatles “live” with full symphonic sound as the critically acclaimed “Classical Mystery Tour”comes to Memphis.

  • Opus One Connections

    A series of family-friendly, multi-generational performance events that are customized for audiences with limited orchestral music experience. Opus One Connections support Opus One concerts, and this season, the program targets the Hispanic community of Memphis.

    Today's performance features the MSO Big Band.  They will perform traditional and Latin repertoire.  Rumba Room dance instructors demonstrate and teach Latin American dance rhythms.

    The program begins at 3:00 p.m. in the courtyard beside the carousel of the Hickory Ridge Mall, the New Town Centre at 6075 Winchester Road, Memphis, TN 38115.

Audiences socialize and listen to the orchestra transform rock, jazz, blues, alternative and Latin music. MSO musicians push familiar classics to a more dynamic level -- giving the audience an electrifying perspective of the versatility and strength of classical music.

  • A Tribute to Motown: The Contours

    Combine a high-energy show jam-packed with perfect harmonies, smooth choreography —plus the timeless grooves of Motown — and you have a night that promises to take you higher and higher. The Contours will perform timeless hits from great artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, and The Miracles. The Contours made famous the hits, Do You Love Me in 1962, and Whole Lotta Woman in 1961.  Consider it signed, sealed, delivered.

    The Rite of Spring is widely considered to be the most influential piece of music written in the 20th century. Written nearly 100 years ago, it remains as vivid and immediate as the day of its infamous premiere. But what led the young Igor Stravinsky to radically change the direction of music?

    Come Beyond the Score, as we experience the life, history, and ancient inspirations behind this iconic ballet score. The first half offers a multimedia examination of the score, its context in history, how it fits into the composer's output of works, the details of a composer's life that influenced its creation - sharing the illuminating stories found "inside" the music. After the intermission, return to the hall with newly discovered knowledge to hear a performance of the work played in its entirety. Learn more at www.beyondthescore.org.

    Seeking to fully examine the genius behind classical music’s most cherished masterworks, Beyond the Score® is a comprehensive multimedia production that cultivates an enriched understanding of a particular work,weaving theater, animated visuals and live musical examples.     The Classic Accents Series closes with an evening of old-world musical performances -- depicting a time during the late Romantic period when sensitivities of the common folk and the aristocracy miraculously merged. Dvorak's Wind Serenade was written in just two weeks and has been an audience favorite for nearly 150 years.
